If you would like to do something, but you are not certain if you would do it, use I hope to…

I hope to find a cheap laptop for my son.

I hope to find a good TV in the sales.

I hope to find a laptop for under 200 dollars.

Expressing opinions

To say what you think of things you find in shops, use I think… or I don’t think…

I think this color would suit you.

I don’t think this shirt would suit me.

I think the mangoes are overripe.

I don’t think the mangoes are ripe enough.

Use I agree or You’re right to agree with someone else’s opinion.

‘These skirts are lovely.’ ‘I agree. I’m going to try some on.’

‘This shop is very expensive.’ ‘You’re right. Let’s go somewhere else.’

‘This dress is too tight around the waist.’ ‘I agree. I need a bigger size.’

To ask what someone else thinks about something you are thinking of buying, use What do you think…?
