Future tenses overview

The time adverbs used in a sentence determine the tense. In this lesson we will take a look at the time adverbs used with future tenses.
Simple future tense
The simple future tense is used to make simple predictions about the future. It is commonly used with the following time adverbs: tomorrow, next week, next day, at 3 pm, in 2015, day after tomorrow, soon etc.
- I will find a good job soon.
- I will send the payment next week.
- We will start the journey at 3 pm.
- The train will leave at 3 pm.
- I will be there in the evening.
Future continuous tense
The future continuous tense is commonly used with time expressions like at this time tomorrow / next week etc.
- At this time tomorrow I will be writing my examination.
- At this time next week, I will be flying to New York.
- At this time next week, I will be traveling to Jaipur.
Future perfect tense
The future perfect tense is used with the following time expressions: by tomorrow, by that time, by night, by the end of the year, by 2016 etc.
- I will have published a book by the end of this year.
- We will have built our new home by 2016.
- My brother will have finished his studies by the end of this year.
The future perfect continuous tense
The future perfect continuous tense is not very common in English.
