Sentence synthesis using question words

We can combine two sentences into one using a question word.
Study the following examples.
Today I met the man. I had bought this house from him.
Today I met the man from whom I had bought this house.
He has moved to a small village. He will spend the rest of his life there.
He has moved to a small village where he will spend the rest of his life.
You have met Mr. Roy. His son is our leader.
You have met Mr. Roy whose son is our leader.
Exercise
Combine the following pairs of sentences using a question word.
1. I have met the artist. This picture was painted by him.
2. She comes from a south Indian state. Lots of coconut palms grow there.
3. This is the girl. We were talking about her.
4. I do not know the man. He gave the presentation.
5. I gave him the money. He will explain the reason.
6. She sent me a nice gift. I was grateful for that.
Answers
1. I have met the artist by whom this picture was painted.
2. She comes from a south Indian state where lots of coconut palms grow.
3. This the girl about whom we were talking.
4. I do not know the man who gave the presentation.
5. He will explain why I gave him the money.
