To pour oil on troubled waters is to calm a person with soothing words.

Many people who lead a quiet life may have a volcano of talent, strength, ability, will etc in them.

A stitch in time saves nine

Taking appropriate action at the right time saves a lot of trouble in the future.

Time is a great healer

With the passage of time pain, sorrow, enmity etc., will become less keenly felt.

Two heads are better than one

Two persons can jointly think, plan or do a thing better because one may make up for deficiencies in the other.

United we stand divided we fall

We will be able to achieve greater goals if we stand together. Individuals acting alone will not be able to achieve as much as teams do.

Variety is the spice of life

Variety of experiences makes life interesting and worth living.

What is done cannot be done

We cannot change what has already been done. We need to accept it.

Where there is a will there is a way

If you are determined enough you will achieve whatever you set your sight on.
